Making Our First Game: The Drive
The original idea for our Six Forms card game formed in the mid-2000s, soon after I graduated high school. However, a decade later, I would finally focus on the game and truly craft the Six Forms of today.
Right after high school graduation in the summer of 2006, a group of friends and I drove from Laurens, SC, to a friend's house in NC. I revealed my plans to create a game on that drive and outlined the initial plans and design to my friends. Once we arrived at our destination, I snagged some construction paper, the stuff you see kids holding as car wash signs, and started cutting out the first cards.
The idea was simple:
- Make the game more like chess, where position matters, and you can block using other cards.
- Require energy resources to play cards.
- Interact with head-to-head combat using avatars and action cards.
